Yoga

Hatha yoga refers to a set of physical exercises (known as asanas or postures), designed to align your skin, muscles and bones. Hatha yoga is a powerful tool for self-transformation. It asks us to bring our attention to our breath, which helps us to still the fluctuations of the mind and be more present in the unfolding of each moment.

The Yoga Journal

Temple member Amissa Burton leads a gentle hatha yoga class at Temple each Wednesday morning at 10 am (cancellations will be announced on the Temple web site and in the weekly email; you're always welcome to call and confirm that class is taking place). Amissa’s yoga class is appropriate for students ages 16 and older; all levels from beginners through advanced. She encourages you to come laugh, breathe and stretch as you discover your body through yoga. Bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing! Yoga blankets, blocks and straps are always welcome.

Amissa has completed her 500-hour certification for beginner and advanced Samatva Yoga. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. Her training has included specialty trainings in Yoga for Women, Let’s Play! Yoga for Children, Mamasate PreNatal and Postnatal Yoga. She has been teaching yoga for seven years.
